Sheri Edwards

1999-2000

Nespelem School Grade 7/8 teacher

Grade 7/8 is a self-contained classroom ranging from 10-15 students throughout the year. Most of the students are Native Americans from the Colville Indian Reservation.

This is my fourteenth year at Nespelem School, where I have taught first grade, sixth grade, and TAG (talented and gifted) students.

Reading and Writing are integrated into the content areas as we focus on themes that best target the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements.

Technology is a tool for learning: a tool for the teacher to bring the world into the classroom to augment the curriculum; and a tool for the student to research, compose, gather and analyze data, and share the resulting understandings.

Teaching and learning are reciprocal.
