A Message from the Superintendent

To Our Parents and Community,

First, I want to say thank you to those who have been involved in our school program to various degrees. This is very important for the success of our students, and we strongly encourage your continued help in our school. I welcome you into our school and to visit our classrooms any time.

We are working very hard in our school district to meet the goals that have been set for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) which is a requirement for No Child Left Behind. Our school district Plan of Improvement is asking us to make a 10% gain on our Reading, Writing, and Math WASL scores. Our staff is concentrating on teaching to the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) and has become committed to teaching these in all curricular areas. We believe our efforts will have an impact that improves our student scores on the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL).

We believe we have a well-balanced program for all students to meet their needs as we have several student activities outside the school day. Our mission is to "Enable a Child to be a Thinking, Caring, and Productive Person using High Academic Standards in a Positive Environment."

If you have any suggestions for improvements, which our school district may work towards, please share these with our school staff, school board members, or certainly at our Parent Education Committee meetings.

Respectfully,

Bud Veis, Superintendent/Principal
