Uranus

Uranus is a very interesting planet that has moons, an atmosphere with satellites, rings, magnetic field and diameter of Uranus and this is what my report is about.

THE MOONS ON URANUS

There are fifteen moons on Uranus. Until the voyager made it into space Uranus had only five moons. The five moon names are Miranda, Titania, Umbriel, Oberon and Ariel. Miranda was discovered that the moon had ten small new moons. All five moons are made up of Fifty percent denser than water that has some type of ice. All of these moons are dark gray in color and scientists believe they could be covered with carbon soot or graphite. And one of the moon (Miranda) had a surface astronomers are surprised about. Scientists wonder if Miranda had broken up and fell back together.

URANUS'S ATMOSPHERE

Uranus's atmosphere is made up of hydrogen, helium and methane. The temperature is so cold in the upper atmosphere that the methane forms into a thin layer of cloud. The atmosphere is made up of large amounts of methane gas that gives the planet a greenish glow. There are no solid surfaces on Uranus and the atmosphere on Uranus is two hundred and twenty five degrees Celsius in the upper atmosphere. Uranus has a high level of petrochemical haze that obscures features lower in the atmosphere. The clouds are thought to be methane ice at the top of the clouds and it is 221 degrees Celsius.

SATELLITES

Uranus has fifteen satellites. The satellites in the rings create gaps between Uranus's rings. But the eighteen satellites weren't discovered until 1999.

URANUS 'S SYSTEM OF RINGS

Uranus's system of rings wasn't discovered until 1977. The system of rings has eleven dark rings that encircled Uranus and was discovered in 1977. Each ring is only few miles across and not completely round. The longest one in the outer ring is about thirteen miles long. Two rings surround Uranus bringing the three totals to nine rings.

MAGNETIC FIELD

Uranus has a very strong magnetic field. Uranus's magnetic field is about fifty times stronger than the earth and tilts 60 degrees.

URANUS'S PLANET AND FEATURES DESCRIPTION

Uranus's was named for the Roman god of the sky. Uranus is a blue green large plain planet. Uranus is considered strange because the planet rotates on its side. Uranus's equator makes almost a right angle. Uranus is tilted 98 degrees. Uranus has several different surfaces and features that don't match any other. Uranus has a featureless appearance at visible wavelength. Uranus is the 7th planet from the sun.

URANUS'S DIAMETER DISCRIPTION

The plane of its orbit is around the sun. The diameter of the planet is 32,116 miles. And orbit around the sun at a distance of 1,736 million miles every 84 years. Uranus has a diameter of 52,000 kilometers and about 1427 million kilometers from the sun.

DISTANCE AWAY

Uranus is further away from the sun than Jupiter and Saturn so the temperature is lower than 58 degrees.

I hope you enjoyed my report and least learned a couple facts about the planet Uranus. I liked researching and taking notes about Uranus and learned about Uranus at the same time while I was researching.
