Technology Workshop
Topic: capturing Internet pictures
Information:
Any picture used must be done with permission from the owner of the picture due to copyright restrictions. Because of this, the source of all pictures must be kept so written or email permission can be obtained through snail mail or email.
Unless the website states "all clip art is free", be aware that copyright does apply.
Starting:
1--Create a folder under your hard drive icon entitled "{computer name}images02", such as "sbimages02".
2--Open Microsoft Excel. Create a file with the blue headers shown below. Save it in your images folder named "{computer}picsources02.xls" as shown below.

3--Open Internet Explorer. Find a picture you like. On some sites you need to click on the picture to get the original jpet, gif, tiff, etc. (These are all file formats for graphics).
Capturing Pictures:
1--When you have a picture you can use (appropriate, able to obtain permission, free), hold the mouse key down while you drag the image to your images folder.
Maintaining sources in Excel:
1) 1-Open your picsources.xls file.
2) Open the images file.
3) Single click on image to highlight the name. Copy the name (apple-c) and paste it (apple v) under the picture name column in excel (see above).
4) Single click on image in image file again. Click apple-i for information. A box will appear with the source information. Copy and paste this information into the "source" column of your picsources file.
5) Describe WHAT the picture is about---some detail you know that it is running horses or a wolf's face and you can find it later.
NOTE: Continue recording your images in the Excel file each time you copy an image.
Assignment: Capture another picture; record the information in your Excel picture file.
