1. Set up files:

computer folder (lmweb02)-->your folder (sreweb02)---->images folder (images)

2. Set up your folder:

sreweb02 --->images folder (images)

At the end of this lesson your folder will contain the files as shown HERE.

3. Create pages:

Open Claris Home Page

A. To create your home page

File----->new page

Document Options button---->parameters------->srehome

---->appearance---->background and text color (Do not change link colors)

Save as---->Be sure to put in YOUR web folder. If you have named your file with the document options button, your file name will automatically be saved and be saved with the appropriate title, such as srehome.htm

Create a title. Use the big/little a buttons to increase and decrease text size. Use the colored A to change colors. This can also be found under the STYLE menu. Example: srehome.htm

B. To create your spelling words page

File----->new page

Document Options button{looks like a page with a right corner turned down}---->parameters------->srewords

---->appearance---->background and text color (Do not change link colors)

Save as---->Be sure to put in YOUR web folder. If you have named your file with the document options button, your file name will automatically be saved and be saved with the appropriate title, such as srewords.htm

Create a title as above. Example: srewords.htm

4. Create links.

Be on your HOME page.

Type a title: Fancier Words. Highlight it. ---->Links button {looks like a blue arrow}---->browse---->choose your spelling file, such as srewords.htm---->close

A line will be under your title.

To check link: go to the preview {netscape page button}; click on your link and your other page should pop up.

Go back to the edit buttion {pencil}. Create a link from your WORDS page to your HOME page following the same process.

5. Insert tables.

Be in your WORDS file. Under the title, write the first sentence for your spelling words, such as "Instead of SAID, say..."

Go to the table button {looks like 8 rectangles}. Make the table have 5 rows and 3 columns. You can make the table a color. Insert your spelling words. Example: srewords.htm

6. Insert graphics.

Make sure all your images are in your images file in your folder. Go to Insert----->image----->select images folder in your folder--------->select the image and click OPEN.

6. Now your folder should contain these files with YOUR initials:

srehome.htm

srewords.htm

images folder
