EALRS and Math Rubrics

The Essential Academic Learning Requirments are aligned with the rubric categories/strands in this chart.

Daily Work Rubric

1. Concepts

1.1,2,3,4,5 Understands and applies the concepts and procedures of the mathematical strands: number sense, measurement, geometric sense, probability and statistics, and algebraic sense.

2. Reasoning

3.1 Work shows explanation of thinking and math ideas using patterns, relationships, and counter-examples.

3.2 Analyzes (thinks through) the problem and creates a conjecture (prediction) of how to solve.

3.2 Chooses information to test conjecture and organizes information (data)

3.3 Draw conclusions by providing support arguments and justifying results using inductive reasoning"

3. Problem-solving

2.1 Investigate challenging situations that require perseverence

2.1 Solve problems involving integration of topics using a variety of strategies.

2.2 Define, clarify problems; identify relevant and irrelevant information in the situation.

2.3 Construct solutions using technology, representations (models, drawings, formulas)

2.3 Solving multi-step problems by finding and analyzing data.

4. Communication

4.1 Formulate questions, gather information, and develop a plan to collect and share relevant data using words, pictures, numbers, symblols, and written logs to clearly and effectively express ideas.

4.2 and 4.3 Organize and clarify mathematical information by reflecting and discussion using everyday and mathematical language.

5. Computation

1.1 Able to apply basic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide; mental math; calculator; computer; pencil and paper; fractions, integers, rational and non-rational numbers)

BONUS: Connections/Extra mile

5.1 Relate and use different mathematical models and representations for the same situations.

5.2 Connects mathematical thinking and modeling to other subjects.

5.2 Understands mathematics by other cultures.

5.3 Recognizes and connects math in the classroom to math in the real world and careers."
