Vent bacteria/microbes are tiny creatures that are one of the main sources of life down at the hydrothermal vents. One form of the bacteria at the vents is an ancient life form called 'Archaea'. If there really is life existing on another planet, then it might be Archaea and the vent bacteria on Europa!
Vent Bacteria are one of the main forms of life at the hydrothermal vents. It latches onto the pompeii worm's furry hair (the worm eats it too) to turn the poisonous chemical, sulfer, into food for the worm. When the tubeworm is young, it has a mouth for the bacteria to go into. Then the bacteria does the same process for the tubeworm that it does for the pompeii worm. It helps other orginisms to survive too. Only one of which is the vent crab.
